About the project: In this 18,000-square-foot project, removing the existing lawn and adding 70 cubic yards of soil to create varied topography enhanced the landscape with depth and intimacy. The design features elevated areas that create a sense of mystery around every corner. This project includes the City of San Luis Obispo's first permitted rainwater harvesting system, a 15,000-gallon setup that supports a self-sustaining edible garden and efficient water use. The plant palette incorporates a range of colors and textures, combining vibrant and subtle foliage. The result is a well-balanced landscape that integrates functionality, interactive spaces, and sustainable practices.
