About the project: This Pismo Beach property was designed as a cohesive outdoor environment where architecture, hardscape, and planting work as one. Concrete finishes, stone detailing, and a carefully considered hardscape layout establish a strong framework, while the pool design, including tile selection, interior finish, and lighting, anchors the space visually and functionally. Particular attention was given during the design process to the layout of concrete joints and their relationship to the pool coping and the dymondia groundcover veins woven throughout the project. These alignments create visual continuity and reinforce the overall order of the space. Plant material was selected for texture, scale, and longevity, softening the hard edges without competing with the architecture. Integrated lighting highlights key transitions and supports use of the space from day into evening. The result is a clean, intentional outdoor space that feels modern, timeless, and well suited to coastal living.
