About the project: Nestled in the picturesque hillside of Arroyo Grande, this coastal Spanish Modern home blends traditional architecture with contemporary design. The landscape integrates seamlessly with the natural environment, anchored by thoughtfully chosen materials. A 5,000-gallon rainwater tank supports a year-round edible garden, while an open lawn with water-efficient sprinklers offers space for children, pets, and lawn games. At the front, a custom pool and floating deck sit in a private courtyard. Native boulders, plant materials, and large oak trees connect the architecture with the coastal terrain. Working with the architect-owner was a rewarding experience, addressing the site's challenges and possibilities. Location : San Luis Obispo, CA Landscape Style : Spanish Modern
